I will let you know if it disappeared since this will mean I found the issue. I disconnected mine (I didnt use it anyway) and I will now play for a while and look out for my monitor doing it again. He did not have his USB-A to USB-B cable plugged in (for the monitors USB-ports. I switched to another displayport-port but also changed another variable since I already read that this didnt fix the issue for others - so I assume it wont fix it for me either.īut we had one difference. If this is not fixable soon, I will have to return this monitor.Ī friend of mine did not have the same issue as me and we compared settings and already had the same settings. I found posts about other people experiencing this but I havent found any fix to this and it doesnt seem to be that common of an issue since its not the majority of users who reported this but indeed multiple users. It will occur either way as soon as I'm gaming.
#ODYSSEY G7 GAMING MONITOR FULL#
Going full screen or windowed full screen does not influence this issue. No matter if auto source detection is on or off. My issue is that in games my monitor will randomly disconnect from the source and search for a new one. This bug usually occurs in combination with adaptive sync and I have browsed the web for a fix but didnt find one yet. But I do not think this is a defect - I believe its a bug. And actually its a REALLY big issue, which will force me to return it for replacement or refund if it is unfixable. I am still mostly saitsfied with this monitor - there is only one problem. Hey its me again three weeks in with this monitor. If it does I will make sure to post my solution in a different post for everyone to see. My monitor didnt loose its source during testing so far. So between 45Hz and 240Hz V-Sync will be off and only turn on at 241Hz or higher kicking you back down to 240Hz which will bring you back to G-Sync. I havent had the source searching issue yet when using V-Sync.Īfter a little more research I found out that V-Sync will only activate once you exceed your G-Sync range. Anyway - with V-Sync on there is no stuttering by FPS are still locked. Somehow using a FPS Limiter causes stuttering at 200~FPS while not using one at 200~FPS there is no stuttering. I did some more research and testing so far having V-Sync set to "on" seems to help. What happens if I exit or enter the G-Sync range? Will it switch to a different source causing this black screen transition? Is it possible that my issue isnt caused by my monitor but by G-Sync en- and disabling itself all the time? How can I fix this realiably? Should I limit my framrate? Should I use V-Sync and G-Sync at the same time? I will test these things anyway but maybe you guys have experience with that already and can share your solution. The Menu is always limited to the monitors refresh rate - the game itself is not. When rounds transition between operator selection and actual gameplay (from menu to gameplay) this also quite frequently happens. When set up like this I usually hit well above at like 255FPS-265FPS. In Rainbow Six: Siege I use vulcan and use the variable render scaling to target 240FPS.

But what happens if I go above 240Hz or dip below it? G-Sync should deactivate, right? The G7 doesnt have a dedicated G-Sync module and only supports VRR in a range between 45Hz-240Hz which should be managable for an RTX 3080 in most games. It sometimes happens that my monitor looses its source when using G-Sync and I believe to know why this happens.

Ive been doing a bit of testing with my Odyssey G7 and I believe there is a general issue with G-Sync maybe not only related to this monitor. You can read the old post below if you want to dive deeper into my issue. Set your color depth back to 8bc and the source searching issue should be gone.
